Paul Glimcher

Paul Glimcher is the Director of the Center for Neuroeconomics at New York University and the Julius Silver Professor of Neural Science, Economics, and Psychology at NYU’s Center for Neural Science. He is an Investigator for the National Eye Institute, National Institute of Aging, and the US. Army Research Laboratory’s Army Research Office. He is the author of Foundations of Neuroeconomic Analysis (2011); Neuroeconomics: Decision Making and the Brain (2009), winner of the American Association of Publishers Economics and Social Sciences Book of the Year; and Decisions, Uncertainty and the Brain: The Science of Neuroeconomics (2003), winner of the American Association of Publishers Medical Sciences Book of the Year. Professor Glimcher’s work has been covered by the popular press in the Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, The Los Angeles Times, and Money Magazine, and on NPR, BBC, Fox News, and NOVA. His research aims to describe the neural events that underlie behavioral decision making by employing an interdisciplinary approach, combining mathematical, economic, and traditional neurobiological tools.
